Courtney Dwyer
What are you interested in (passions, hobbies, etc.)?
The things that I am most passionate about are my family, our home/community, and health. I am an active member of our local YMCA and enjoy hiking, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. I am often found out walking our dog, Goose, or at home trying out new recipes.
Why do you want to be on the Board?
I am looking to join the board in hopes to increase camaraderie between neighbors. I hope we can gather together more, find ways to welcome new neighbors, and connect those who have similar interests/hobbies.
Why do you feel you will be a good board member (experience, availability, skills, etc.)?
I would be a good board member due to my ability to work well with others, think outside of the box, and my positive attitude. I have strong communication skills and enjoy connecting people to causes that I feel strongly about.
If you would like, share anything else that would help the Membership get to know you better.
I moved into Parkway Forest in March 2021 with my husband, Mark, and our dog and cat (Goose & Lulu). In September we welcomed our first child, Magnolia (Maggie). I have spent the last 8 months being a stay-at-home mom aka House Manager. Our neighbors have been huge blessings to us over the past year and are why we love living in Parkway Forest. I hope to help make this a community where people know their neighbors and feel welcome, and supported for generations.

I have actively been participating in the neighborhood since buying our house in the Spring of 2013. I am passionate about Parkway Forest continuing to be one of the best neighborhoods in Asheville. A sense of community, safety, pride are my top priorities. I hope to grow “The Village” of neighbors helping neighbors, and see more social activities that bring all of us together.
I volunteer with the Council On Aging, Bounty and Soul, and AARP Tax Foundation. I enjoy our yard, walking Frankie, playing pickle ball.

Why do you want to be on the Board?
I want to be on the PF board because I care about the future of our neighborhood. I want to be informed and help make decisions that benefit all my neighbors.
Why do you feel you will be a good board member (experience, availability, skills, etc.)?
I feel that I would be a good board member because I have lived in Parkway Forest for almost 40 years and I was a board member when the association was reestablished.

I am a retired public school teacher and taught in Buncombe County Schools for 30 years. My husband and I have lived in Parkway Forest since 1983. We enjoy our 3 children, their spouses and our 8 grandchildren. All are very active in their jobs and communities within the Asheville area. We enjoy sporting events and love being grandparents. I currently work part time as a substitute teacher. And I truly enjoy working to ensure our neighbor and community is progressively moving forward.

I've lived in Asheville on and off for the past decade but moved to Parkway Forest in 2022 with my partner and our cat. Most of my free time is dedicated to some sort of outdoor activity in the mountains or on the river. You can usually find me running the Mountains to Sea Trail throughout the week! In the past I've worked as an educator across the country in the outdoor industry field and that's influenced my love for Appalachia. The community in Parkway Forest has been incredibly welcoming and I hope to continue learning from my neighbors into the future.

I have lived in Asheville since 1988. For the last 25 years, I have been fortunate to live in Parkway Forest. I served on a previous incarnation of the Parkway Forest Neighborhood Association Board from 2010 – 2013 and enjoyed getting to know neighbors better and figuring out how things work with the City of Asheville to make life better in our neighborhood. The sense of community here is amazing, and I want to serve on the Board to help this community continue to thrive.
I retired from the Buncombe County Library System in 2018, and spend a lot of time puttering in my yard, walking around the neighborhood, and looking for my cats. I also enjoy knitting and reading.

I moved to Parkway Forest from West Asheville, with my husband Keith, in the summer of 2012. On my first walk with our dog Gordon, I met six friendly neighbors and was instantly in love with the neighborhood! The strong sense of community here spring-boarded me into getting more involved.
I joined the original Parkway Forest Neighborhood Association as a co-president for two years, before moving to NY for two years (and then back!). While co-president, we held quarterly neighborhood meetings and events. With a group of amazing neighbor volunteers, we surveyed our neighborhood, interviewed some original owners, and wrote a Plan on a Page, as requested by the City, to represent our neighborhood’s wishes for the future. I also became a member of the City Council’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee, where I served for five years (before and after moving to NY). While doing so, I advocated for the east side, communicated city news to PF residents in an email newsletter and via social media, and did my best to serve as a voice for neighborhoods.
After moving back from NY, the PFNA had gone dormant. With some supportive neighbors, we revived it. After a year off, I am excited to rejoin the PFNA. This neighborhood is already awesome at coming up with informal ways to connect with each other. However, I look forward to coordinating with the board to further foster our neighborhood’s sense of community through events, committees, and/or communication. We can’t do this alone – so I encourage all residents to get involved as you can!
In July we adopted a rescue dog named Jackson. He is a bundle of energy! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, DIY home projects, gardening, hiking, kayaking, and traveling in our self-converted camper van.

What are you interested in (passions, hobbies, etc.)?
My interests include: hiking, concerts, traveling and always up for a recommendation on restaurants and breweries.
Why do you want to be on the Board?
I want to be on the board because I feel we have one of the best communities in Asheville. I want to be engaged with the neighborhood, gather new ideas while encouraging people to be involved and enjoy events.
Why do you feel you will be a good board member (experience, availability, skills, etc.)?
I feel that I would be a good board member because I have lived in Parkway Forest for 6 years. I have worked in the healthcare setting for 30 years. During this time, I have encountered many people and situations throughout my career. I am also active with many departments in the hospital as well as community agencies.

I am very approachable and enjoy meeting people and good conversation. We have four dogs that we enjoy walking, when you see me out please introduce yourself. I'm happy to try and help out in any way possible.
